Frequently asked questions.

Everything about research peptides, certificates of analysis, ordering, and what RUO actually means for your lab.

What does RUO (Research Use Only) mean?

RUO stands for Research Use Only. It means the reagents and compounds listed in our catalog are sold exclusively for laboratory research, in-vitro testing, and analytical purposes. They are not intended for human consumption, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic use, or any application governed by medical or food safety regulations. All BioFirst products carry a RUO label and are accompanied by documentation that supports research-grade use.

What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?

A Certificate of Analysis is a laboratory document that verifies the identity, purity, and quality of a specific production lot. Each BioFirst lot ships with a third-party COA that includes HPLC purity data, mass spectrometry confirmation, residual solvent analysis, and bacterial endotoxin results. The COA allows researchers to trace each vial back to its quality data.

How are your peptides tested?

Every lot undergoes third-party testing by an independent analytical laboratory. Testing includes HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) for purity, mass spectrometry for molecular identity confirmation, residual solvent screening, and endotoxin testing. We do not rely solely on manufacturer data - all results come from independent labs.

What is HPLC and why does it matter?

HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) separates and quantifies the compounds in a sample. The resulting chromatogram shows a main peak at a specific retention time, which confirms the identity of the peptide, and the area under the peak indicates purity. A purity of 98% or higher is the standard for research-grade peptides.

How should research peptides be stored?

Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides should be stored at -20C in a sealed container, protected from light and moisture. Once reconstituted with the appropriate solvent (as directed in the COA), the working solution should be aliquoted and stored at -20C or below. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Always follow the storage instructions provided with each lot's COA.

How do I reconstitute lyophilized peptides?

Reconstitution is a standard bench procedure. Add the appropriate volume of sterile solvent (typically bacteriostatic water, sterile acetic acid, or PBS, depending on the peptide) to the vial. Allow the lyophilized cake to dissolve gently without vigorous shaking. The specific solvent and concentration are noted on the COA for each lot. This is a laboratory procedure to be performed only by qualified research personnel.

What is the minimum order quantity?

BioFirst accepts single-vial orders for research evaluation. Volume pricing is available for orders of 10 or more vials of the same SKU. For institutional bulk orders (50+ vials), contact us directly for a custom quote and lead time estimate.

How are orders shipped?

Orders are shipped from our EU fulfillment hub. Standard shipping uses temperature-controlled packaging to maintain peptide stability in transit. Domestic EU orders typically arrive within 3-5 business days. International shipping times vary by destination. Tracking is provided for all shipments.

Can I get a COA before placing an order?

Yes. We provide COAs and specifications on request for any lot in our current inventory. Contact us at info@biofirst.co with the SKU and lot number you need documentation for, and we will send the relevant certificates.

Do you ship internationally?

We ship to research institutions and laboratories worldwide, subject to local import regulations for research reagents. Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with their jurisdiction's import requirements. Contact us to confirm shipping availability to your location.

What payment methods do you accept?

BioFirst currently operates on an inquiry-based ordering model. After submitting an inquiry through the product page, our team will provide a proforma invoice with available payment options. Institutional purchase orders are accepted from verified research organizations.

Are these peptides FDA approved?

No. BioFirst peptides are sold exclusively for research use only (RUO). They are not FDA approved, not intended for human use, and not represented as dietary supplements, drugs, or medical products. Any research use must comply with applicable institutional and regulatory guidelines.
